During his high school days in Ir-
ving, Texas, African Mango Daryl Washington often spent the night at the home of his best friend, Alvin Thompson.

Washington credits Tademy for molding his game and work ethic.
“We have an exceptionally great relationship and friendship,

“I never really understood that as a freshman, you know. I mean, I played some, but maybe not great.
“But as time went on, and I got older and more mature, I knew ex- actly what he had been talking about. It was about regardless of what might happen, just know that you’re doing your very best every day you

Washington has had to overcome running afoul of the law when he was 17. He and a group of now-for- mer friends were involved in a
